A clear path to
emergency contacts.

For an immediate emergency in the U.S., call 911. If a call cannot connect, check the instructions for your exact location below.

Call 911 · emergencies only

This website cannot send help. It does not receive emergency reports, locate you, or contact dispatch. Do not make test calls.

Location matters

Check your local instructions.

Coverage is limited to these three jurisdictions—not all outages or all of California. A number for one city may not serve another. Outside these areas, consult your local police, fire or emergency-management agency.

City of Oakland · California

Oakland

Open the official update for current routing instructions. Do not assume Oakland's direct phone lines are an alternative during an outage.

City of Santa Barbara · California

Santa Barbara city

Open the police department's official notice for its alternate dispatch number and current text-to-911 guidance. This is not countywide coverage.

Public Facebook pages may require sign-in. An alternate number is not a guarantee that a call will connect.

When you reach a call-taker

Start with your location.

Give the location of the emergency, your callback number and what happened. Follow the call-taker's instructions and stay on the line until told to hang up.

Calling and texting are different.

A voice call is preferred when you can make one. Text-to-911 is not available everywhere and may have a separate outage. Follow the latest local instructions; do not assume a sent message reached dispatch.

Non-emergency support

For food, housing and other community assistance in the U.S., 211 can help you find local resources. It is not a substitute for emergency dispatch.

This is a manually checked directory, not a live outage feed or government service. Brief status snapshots expire after one hour; official links remain available. Refreshing this page does not verify a new update. Your device's clock affects expiry. Always follow newer instructions from the responsible agency.

No form, location permission, tracking or emergency-report intake runs here. Selecting a location filters this page on your device. Opening an outside source uses that site's services and privacy terms; a phone link opens your device's calling app.
